The Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya stopped an attempt to smuggle 22 buffaloes into Bangladesh. They also arrested five Indian nationals near the international border in West Jaintia Hills.
Quick Action by BSF
Acting on intelligence, the 4th Battalion of BSF Meghalaya launched a swift operation. They received reports of illegal cattle stocking in a betel nut plantation. On March 25, BSF troops seized 22 buffaloes and arrested the suspects.
During questioning, the individuals failed to explain their possession of the cattle. Their intent to smuggle across the border became clear.
Legal Action and Investigation
After the seizure, BSF handed over the suspects and cattle to the Police Patrol Post (PPP) in Muktapur. Authorities are now investigating the case and will take legal action.
BSF’s Dedication to Border Security
This successful operation highlights BSF’s commitment to stopping illegal activities. The force remains alert against cattle smuggling, human trafficking, and other border crimes.
Past Crackdowns on Illegal Border Crossings
In February, BSF Meghalaya stopped several people from crossing the India-Bangladesh border illegally.
During that operation, BSF arrested eight Bangladeshi nationals and one Indian driver. Investigations revealed that the Bangladeshis had been working in Tamil Nadu’s garment industry. They tried to return home through unauthorized routes but were stopped.
BSF’s Ongoing Efforts
BSF Meghalaya continues to strengthen border security. They monitor activities closely and take strict action against smuggling and infiltration.
This operation once again proves BSF’s efficiency in protecting India’s borders. The force remains dedicated to maintaining law and order in border regions.
