A powerful 5.7 magnitude earthquake hit Kamjong, Manipur, on March 5 at 11:06 AM, causing tremors across Assam’s Guwahati and parts of Meghalaya.

According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake occurred at a depth of 110 km, with its epicenter at latitude 24.75° N and longitude 94.35° E.
Tremors Across Northeast India
Sanjay Shaw, Director of Meteorology in Guwahati, confirmed that the tremors were strongly felt in and around Guwahati. Residents of Meghalaya and Assam also experienced shaking due to the seismic activity.
Second Quake in Manipur
At 12:20 PM, another 4.1 magnitude earthquake struck Kamjong district at a depth of 66 km, adding to the seismic disturbance in the region.

- Cracks appeared in several buildings across Manipur, with videos of the damage circulating on social media.

Myanmar Also Hit by Earthquakes
Earlier in the day, Myanmar experienced two consecutive earthquakes:
- A 4.7 magnitude quake struck at 3:36 AM at a depth of 32 km.
- Another 4.5 magnitude quake followed at 3:54 AM, occurring 10 km below the surface.
