Ampareen Lyngdoh Takes Over as Adviser to Meghalaya Government
The Meghalaya government has officially appointed Dr. Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh, MLA, as the Adviser to the State Government following the passing of former Chief Minister DD Lapang, who previously held the role since June 2023.
Official Appointment Notifications Issued
The appointment was confirmed through two official notifications released by the Planning, Investment Promotion, and Sustainable Development Department on November 3, 2025.
The first notification de-notified DD Lapang’s advisory role, effective from the date of his demise, honoring his long and dedicated service to the state.
The second notification formally appointed Dr. Ampareen Lyngdoh as the new Adviser to the Government of Meghalaya, marking a significant administrative transition.
Responsibilities and Privileges Under Category “A+”
Dr. Lyngdoh, a respected legislator and senior political figure, will assume her new duties with benefits and privileges under Category “A+”, as outlined in the Finance Department’s guidelines of August 2023.
Her appointment is effective from the date she assumes charge and will continue until further orders. Both notifications were signed by CVD Diengdoh, IAS, Commissioner and Secretary of the Planning and Investment Promotion Department.
A Notable Shift in Meghalaya’s Advisory Framework
This transition signifies an important change in Meghalaya’s advisory leadership. DD Lapang, one of the state’s most influential political figures, had served as Chief Minister multiple times and contributed significantly to Meghalaya’s political growth over the decades.
Now, Dr. Ampareen Lyngdoh steps into the advisory role with a vision to continue Lapang’s legacy while bringing new insights and strategic direction to the state government’s development agenda.
