Bollywood Debut Speculations and Career Choices
Actor Kalyani Priyadarshan, who is best known for her work in Malayalam cinema, has been reportedly linked to a potential Bollywood debut with the Ranveer Singh-starrer Pralay. However, no official confirmation has been made regarding this project.
Kalyani gained widespread recognition with Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, one of the highest-grossing Malayalam films of last year and notably India’s first female superhero film.
Script Selection Over Language
Speaking about her approach to films, Kalyani emphasizes that good scripts always come her way, regardless of the language. She states:
“I don’t know how to explain this, but good stories have always found me, whatever the language is. I’ve always said that I’m a very greedy actor when it comes to scripts. If there’s a good script, whichever language it is—Marathi, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, or Malayalam—I want it. Obviously, I can’t shoot 10 movies at the same time, but this is where I am.”
She adds that her interest in Hindi films is driven purely by the story and script quality, rather than the language barrier:
“I’ve never looked at language as a barrier, especially for films and storytelling. Emotion is universal, which is why pan-Indian films resonate across audiences. People watch films from different languages because the emotions still connect, even if the words don’t.”
Impact of Lokah on Hindi Film Offers
When asked if offers from Hindi cinema increased after Lokah’s success, Kalyani clarifies:
“I can’t say if it’s increased or decreased, but offers have always been there. The only challenge is that I like dedicating myself fully to a film. That’s what I did with Lokah. I can’t say yes to every good script that comes my way because I focus entirely on one project at a time.”
Lokah Superhero Universe Updates
On the status of the Lokah superhero universe, Kalyani shares:
“We always knew how the film series would progress and the general structure to reach the finale. Last I heard, Dominic had started drafting the script and the first few scenes were sketched out. Almost every week, we call him to check on the progress—it’s always exciting to follow.”
Kalyani Priyadarshan’s career continues to focus on strong storytelling and meaningful roles, making her one of the most promising young actors in Indian cinema.
