From Bollywood to Real Estate: Rimi Sen’s Bold Move
Former Bollywood actress Rimi Sen, famous for Dhoom and Golmaal, has quit acting to start a career in Dubai’s real estate market. In a recent podcast with Buildcaps, she explained why she left Bollywood and how she plans to succeed in real estate.
Rimi said that female actors face a short career span in Bollywood because the industry remains male-dominated. She called her real estate business more stable and described her career shift as a smart, strategic decision.
Candid Talk on Career and Gender Imbalance
Rimi appeared with Priyank Shah, Founder of Buildcaps, and real estate expert Ashish Sharma. Ashish joked about her success, saying, “Rimi ji, leave something for us! You’ve taken over Dubai’s market quickly.”
Rimi laughed and replied, “Real estate is a stable business. I am done with Bollywood; now I focus on real estate.” Priyank added that her move was well-planned and timely.
Challenges for Women in Bollywood
Rimi explained that while male actors like Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan enjoy decades-long careers, women’s roles decline quickly. She said,
“Actresses who once played lead roles are now cast in supporting roles or as on-screen mothers. Women must plan their careers carefully.”
Fame, Addiction, and Career Planning
Rimi compared stardom to an addiction, saying,
“Fame feels like gambling. Smart people know when to step away.”
She emphasized planning for the future:
“I enjoyed acting while getting meaningful work. When I felt the roles became repetitive, I had already planned my exit. I moved on to events, film production, and now real estate.”
A New Chapter in Dubai
Now fully focused on Dubai’s luxury real estate, Rimi applies the same discipline and strategy she used in acting. She described her new career as stable, rewarding, and long-term, marking a successful transition from Bollywood star to entrepreneur.
