In a heartfelt note, Yami Gautam revealed her concern about what she calls a disturbing practice in Bollywood. She stated:
“There is something I’ve been wanting to express for a long time. Today, I feel it’s the right moment. Paying money to create forced hype for a film or avoid negativity feels like extortion.”
Yami described this as a plague in the industry, warning that if it continues, it could harm Indian cinema’s future. She called on producers, directors, and actors to unite and put an end to these manipulative practices.
Hrithik Roshan Supports Yami Gautam
Veteran actor Hrithik Roshan responded to Yami’s post, highlighting the loss of journalistic freedom and genuine feedback due to such practices. He said:
“The golden thing that gets lost is the journalist’s true voice. Only honest opinions have the power to help us evolve.”
Hrithik emphasized that manufactured responses not only harm filmmakers but also prevent journalists from providing authentic reviews, which are essential for the growth and credibility of cinema.

Yami Gautam also spoke from her perspective as a member of the film fraternity and the wife of a dedicated filmmaker, stressing the importance of protecting the creative environment in Bollywood. She encouraged solidarity in the industry, citing how South Indian film industries often demonstrate collective support.
